About Us
What is an MIHP or Maternal Infant Health Program?
The Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP) is the largest home visiting program in Michigan serving pregnant women and infants up to the age of 12-18 months who are enrolled in Medicaid.
What does Mama and Me do for families?
Mama and Me serves families by providing education and support with the goal of our families having healthy pregnancies, good birth outcomes, and healthy infants. Care is provided via in-home or telehealth visits from a nurse or social worker.
What happens at each visit?
At your first visit with us, we complete a risk assessment that will tell us different education topics that we then cover at in-home or telehealth visits. Our team is trained not only to support pregnant families, but also to monitor infants for developmental delays. Mama and Me team also provide referral to resources to help your families meet their goals. From programs that provide low cost or free diapers, car seats or safe sleep spaces to referrals for a therapist, new affordable housing or a food pantry, whatever the need is, we will find a referral resource that meets your family's needs all while providing support.
Who is Mama and Me MIHP?
Who are we?
Mama and Me MIHP is a maternal infant health education and support organization serving families in Monroe, Washtenaw and Wayne counties. Our organization is female owned and operated. Danielle is a woman of color and Melanie is a mother of three children of color. In addition to our personal experiences with oppression, we also have extensive experience working with families that face systemic and institutional barriers which makes it difficult for families to access services and meet their full potential. Combined we have nearly ten years of maternal infant health care experience between us. Our team is also strengthened by two social workers both of whom have extensive experience in maternal and infant health education and care.
